Anoushka's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser

Dec 15, 2024

I am honored to share that I am a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. I am writing today to ask you to support me and the LLS mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. As the leader of the 2025 team Breakthrough Brigade, I hope that you join our efforts to make an impact through the largest nonprofit funder of blood cancer research.

Visionaries look to the future—and see infinite possibility.
They challenge the status quo—and make the impossible possible.
They boldly imagine a better world – and lead the charge to create it.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

I am competing with several other Student Visionaries of the Year candidates in Illinois and together we will each put our best fundraising foot forward in honor of all those fighting blood cancer. I am asking you today to join me in this ambitious campaign. Please join my team and I in our goal to exceed $10,000 by March 15, 2025!

Why I joined:

I love to make a difference in others’ lives and am profoundly influenced by the impact of LLS.

Over the past few months, I got to know Yamil, his family (mom, dad, and sister), and his story. Yamil has fought cancer not once but twice. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 6 and unfortunately relapsed in 2023, just 6 months after ending treatment. Despite the hardships he has faced, he has remained positive and has a big smile that lights up rooms he walks into. He dreams of being able to donate to “All the hospitals in the world” so kids can feel “Happy in their hearts.” Stories like Yamil’s are why I joined LLS and want to take it a step further by running a team this campaign.

I am a junior in high school who volunteers and leads in non-profit organizations, am involved in medical research programs, and have my own podcast “Compass of the Mind,” apart from working as an ice skating coach. Now, as a Legacy Candidate for the 2025 Student Visionaries program, I am uniting her friends, family, and communities to support LLS-funded research, aiming to transform the lives of cancer patients and their families.

I also got involved because every 3 minutes another person is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Unfortunately 30% don’t survive 5 years after their diagnosis. This needs to change. That’s why I’m working with LLS to help find a cure!

Your donation will allow LLS to continue funding life-saving research and support programs for patients and their families. Your donation will contribute to the research grants for blood cancer treatments through LLS! LLS has helped advance 70% of the treatment options approved by the FDA since 2017. In 2024, LLS funded 59 research grants for blood cancer treatments for patients.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
